Nitric
Acid comes with chemical formula of HNO3 is also known by the name of aqua
fortis. As a highly corrosive and toxic strong acid, in purest form it is
available colorless and upon samples getting older, it tends to gain strong
yellow cast because of accumulation of oxides of nitrogen. As a highly
reactive oxidizing agent, it comes with specific gravity of 1.41 and pH of
1.0 (0.1M solution).
Features :
- Comes in colorless to yellowish liquid appearance
- Features suffocating, acrid odor
- Is infinitely soluble with percentage of volatiles by volume @ 21C
(70F): of 100 and melting point of -42C (-44F)
- Comes with boiling point of 122C (252F)
- Has vapor density of 2-3 and vapor pressure (mm Hg) of 48 @ 20C (68F)
Applications :
- Fertilizers
- Explosives
- Rocket fuels
- Comes with boiling point of 122C (252F)
