Acetic
Acid is available as colorless liquid, when in pure form and works as
organic acid. Also known by the names of Ethylic Acid, Ethanoic Acid,
Methane Carboxylic Acid, it supports absorbing water from environment and
has freezing temperature of 16.5°C (62 °F) in crystalline solid
form. With both pure acid as well as its concentrated solutions available in
dangerously corrosive form, it is suitable for use in photographic film,
cellulose acetate, soft drink bottles and other areas.
Features :
- Used in production of vinyl acetate monomer, acetic esters, acetic
anhydride, cellulose acetate, chloroacetic acid
- Also finds use in production of photographic chemicals,
pharmaceutical dyes, insecticides and food preservative
Applications :
- Among simplest carboxylic acids, it is used in:
- Soft drink bottles
- Cellulose acetate
- Photographic film
